I’ll Love Till It’s My Turn to Hold Her Back
I had to interview my mom for an assignment about working life as an adult. The questions ranged from ‘Are you satisfied with your salary?’ to ‘What do your coworkers think about you?’.

Beat of the Game
Music has always been a memory-keeper in my life. I’ve filled my life with music every day, hitting pause buttons and shuffling playlists whenever I get the chance.

The Invisible Bully
In my silent moments, a dark shadow looms over me. The invisible bully intensifies my struggles with loneliness, intrusive thoughts, and restless anxiety.

Your Name Engraved Herein; Movie Review #3
As I start college in September, I was advised to go to orientation to get ourselves comfortable with our environment and the people that we are going to be with in terms of potential classmates or friends. We did an introduction on what our name is, our pronouns, and what our favorite movie is currently.

Balancing School and a Personal Life
Going into a new school year can be tough. There is something stressful about it. Whether it is taking tests or how much time it takes up, for a lot of people it can feel daunting and become an all-consuming activity.

Stray Ghosts
I have known and partaken in fandom culture ever since the COVID pandemic, when the physical isolation led to me joining online communities with people that, in the words of the band AJR, “for once, like all the same shit you do.”

Ana Maria - Aging Out
Achieving transcendence in life is hard. It takes a combination of being there at the right time with the right people around. But most importantly, it takes for the person in question to be under the right circumstances, where they are open to having change come to them. This Girls Story transcended my life.

Parasite; Movie Review #2
As I purchased the Criterion Collection movie of Parasite directed by Bong Joon-ho, I started to think about this movie and the symbolism that went into this film and the thought that goes into this film.

In the Room Where it Happens
“An artist is a little kid who made it,” I felt rumbling inside my head. It was an echo of something I heard in my musical theatre group. It made perfect sense, because artists are those brave enough to do crazy things that will eventually turn into them reminiscing about the little kid they used to be that dreamed of being such an artist.

Off the Beaten Path
When people begin to plan their lives after high school—or rather, often begin to follow the plan laid out for them—it tends to be built off of the same general milestones.

The Fall Guy; Movie Review #1
As someone who is not a big fan of action and romance, I was very surprised to find an incredible interest in the newly released movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, The Fall Guy.

Summer Vacation
When I was younger, I used to say fall was my favorite season. Don’t get me wrong, fall still has a very special place in my heart, but there's something about summer I just love. It could be the nice break from school, or all the warm weather activities there are to do.

My Sporting Passions
Anyone who has spoken to me between the months of April and November knows that I eat, sleep, and breathe baseball. A pretty good example of my obsession took place on Opening Day of this year. I was out to lunch with friends while on vacation, and I was watching a game on my phone of two teams I didn’t even like instead of socializing.

Everyone Knows Everyone In Chicago, Even If You Don’t Know Anyone.
In my room, in a corner, I have a map of people I know, with lines drawn to other people I know, with more lines connected to people they know who know people I know. Half of these people don’t know each other, but they have a line connecting them to someone else who knows them, who knows their friend, who knows their ex, who knows the first person.

Universal Divinity
Throughout my childhood, I’ve consumed a lot of fictional media involving mythology- whether that means explanations of godly pantheons, modern retellings of ancient fables and legends, or breathtaking combinations of both. I’ve read Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which I still fondly look back on because of how much writing inspiration it’s given me.

Final Chapters
My Junior year ends in less than a month. I imagine my graduation cap weighing me down as I shuffle across a stage. I can’t stand the thought of having regrets but my head is full of them.
