Must-Have Sims 4 Mods

I’m not a big fan of most video games, but one of the games that I absolutely love is the Sims 4.  I first started playing it on the Xbox, but quickly became bored of it because of one simple problem: The game was ugly. The Sims itself is an incredible game that you can do so much with, but the base game clothes and furniture items are very limited and also tend to not look that good.

Pictured here are some of the base game clothes and hairs, which are certainly not my style, and not the style that I want my Sims characters to dress in. The Sims do have packs that you can buy to get more options that tend to look better. However, those packs can be expensive and I’ve personally never bought one, due to the lifesaver that is Custom Content (CC) and Mods.

Custom Content are objects in the game, like clothes, makeup, tattoos, furniture, etc., that are created by the fans. There are paid custom content items, but many CC artists make their CC free for everyone. Mods are more in-depth changes to the game, where you can add things like changing the loading screen, all the way up to adding mods for a realistic healthcare system.

I talked to one of my friends to get her opinion on CC and Mods. She said that she likes “the fashion mods and the hair mods, especially the curly hair ones because the base game has none.” Those are also my favorite mods because the Sims is notorious for not having good choices for different hairstyles and skin colors. Some of my favorite Custom Content and Mods:

  • One of my favorite mods is the Control Any Sim Mod. In the Sims, you can control all the Sims in your household, but you’ll have to switch households if you want to control a different sim. With this Mod, you have the ability to control any Sim, even if they’re not in your household.

  • Another essential Mod for me is the MC Command center. This mod lets you control a lot of different things from the game. There’s lots of cheats, like aging a Sim up or down and changing their looks without having to go to the Create A Sim screen.

  • I have Sims who are in a rock band, and the guitars in the Sims are limited. I have a guitar mod where the guitar looks like a classic Fender Stratocaster, with all sorts of different designs.

  • A lot of Custom Content has slightly different versions, and usually, I don’t like all of them, but I love the different types of this hair CC.

I think this hair is so cute, and I love the little strands. If you play the Sims 4 or are thinking about playing it, I highly recommend getting some Mods and Custom Content!
